Hillsong Sisterhood

Our Response

At the Colour Conference 2010 we gave you a gift - a cute teapot & cup with the words I AM SISTERHOOD & BE THE CHANGE inscribed.
It is our gift to all the fabulous delegates who have gathered – in the hope that you would receive it, love it, be blessed and be reminded each time you use it, that you are not alone, you are believed in and that you are part of fabulous sisterhood of women on the earth.
But we also created it with a hope, dream, wild & fun imagination in mind!
Women love connection! Women love a reason to get together. IMAGINE if we all had a tangible reason to reach out to friends and neighbours, girlfriends and colleagues, family and even strangers. Maybe you already have a group of friends that meet regularly over a pot of tea and timtams.
In 2011, we are continuing to encourage you to be sisterhood in your community. To carry the message of the sisterhood – connection, relationship with our Saviour, awareness of injustice and solution into your neighbourhood!.
Choose a project to get involved in as a group. You could bathe a nation in prayer and take authority over human trafficking in that nation. Host a baby Watoto shower. Fund-raise for a Watoto home. Pray over the lives of street children in Mumbai... the choices are endless – it is just about taking the message of sisterhood into your world....
Helpful PDFs to download to get you started.

This is all about giving you a new tool to help you outwork being sisterhood in your world. Finding women that need a friend and starting a walk and prayer group.
Committing to raise funds for breast cancer research. Maybe just finding a time to hang out with your teenaged daughter by walking for health.

Walk and Pray

Walking is the perfect time to pray - Whether alone or with your friends you can make the most of the opportunity to breathe fresh air, marvel at God’s creation and pray health, strength, life and grace over your friends, family, neighbourhood and world. Take your water bottle, t-shirt and walk and pray freedom into the environment!

Walk For Health

Walking is fantastic for your health—revitalising the body and mind. Everyone can walk for health! So grab a friend or two, don your comfortable t-shirt and fill up your water bottle and get moving so that you can run your life race with perseverance and not grow weary before the end.

Walk For A Cause

Choose a cause that you are passionate about—Orphans Sisters Nations—perhaps a local community project that needs your support.
  • Arrange a walk/run to raise support and funds OR
  • Join an existing walk to raise support and funds—find a local walk (marathon or triathalon if you are feeling adventurous...) and take part.

Walk For Freedom

This gift is just a tool—a tool for you to make a difference with. You can climb a mountain/run the City to Surf/ play a soccer match or just walk around your block and pray—it is up to you! Find what works for you and choose to make a difference in your world!
Choose to be SISTERHOOD!

The Need

Sisterhood Local should ideally start in your local church—join the sisterhood at your church—play your part in bringing the message of value to the women of your church and community.
Maybe your church is already involved at a local community level—if so—be a part of that! But if this does not exist in your local environment you can still be Sisterhood at an individual level.

Our Response

The individual looks like the “casserole ministry” of women who provide meals for the sick, new mums and struggling families. It is the grandmothers who take the time to knit a blanket for the new babies and the homeless.
It is the mum who goes into her local school to teach young girls about their value through the Shine program. Sisterhood is the woman who chooses to give blood to save the life of a stranger. Sisterhood is all of these women living their daily lives in a way that can change the world. Sisterhood is YOU.

Petite Sisterhood

Educating our little girls to know that they can change their world; that they have been born for such a time as this & that changing the world can be fun!

The Need

We want our little girls to feel a part of the Sisterhood so we have created the “Petite Sisterhood” with them in mind. We want our girls to know that they can change their world; that they can make a difference; that they have been born for such a time as this... AND that changing the world can be really fun!
If we can teach our baby girls about how valuable they are and that they are God’s answer for this world, then we are believing that they will grow up with a sense of purpose and destiny that will set them up for a GOD—BREATHED life.

Our Response

Living Hope

Sponsoring Ugandan women infected with HIV/AIDS to provide basic necessities, food, medical care, counseling & the skills they need to create a self sustaining income.

The Facts

1.2mil

It's estimated that there are 940,000 people with HIV living in Uganda, and a further 1.2 million children who have been orphaned by AIDS.

9x

Women represent 59% of those infected with HIV/ AIDS in Uganda. Young women are 9x more likely to contract HIV than young men.

The Need

Some of these women have been brutally tortured – both mentally and physically. Lips, ears, noses and even genital parts severed from their bodies.
The wounds and scars are a constant reminder of their past and they’re also part of the reason for the harsh rejection they receive from their community and family.

Our Response

You can be the change in the life of one of these women by deciding to sponsor them. Sponsorship is being run through the Watoto Australia and is $40/ month which provides funding for the entire Living Hope Program. This allows Watoto to provide assistance to just over 2000 women across Uganda. Please visit their website http://www.watoto.com/livinghope for more information of how to get involved.
Your support will help these women in the following ways:
  • By improving their quality of life, assisting them with basic necessities such as food, clothing, shelter and medical care
  • Providing comprehensive HIV/AIDS care including counselling and psychosocial support
  • Spiritual and moral discipleship
  • Empowering and equipping them with vocational skills
  • Setting them up with self sustainable income generating projects using micro-finance loans

Compassion Child Survival Program

Providing mothers and babies with the assistance, food and education to help them get through pregnancy, childbirth and the first critical years of a child's life.

The Facts

60sec

Every minute, a woman in our world dies in pregnancy or childbirth. That’s one million women who die every year.

3 secs

Every three seconds, a child under the age of five dies in the developing world. That’s almost 10 million children dying every year, mostly from easily preventable things like malaria and diarrhea.

> 5yrs

Malnourished mothers often give birth to underweight babies, and these babies are less likely to survive for their fifth birthday.

The Need

These programs provide mothers and their babies with pre and post-natal check-ups, as well as health and nutrition education. The babies are given the immunisations and nutritional supplements they need to survive their first few years of life.

Our Response

Your generosity will give new mums fresh hope for their babies’ futures. As the Colour Sisterhood we are partnering with Compassion to support these mums and their babies through a monthly donation.
Either $29/$58 per month will help to support a child survival program in one of the following countries:
  • The Philippines
  • Indonesia
  • Tanzania
  • Uganda
